Jazz/Choro/Chamber Program Assistant

The Program Assistant supports the Program Manager of three programs. First, Jazz Port Townsend is a logistically complex program and involves a large team of people, including 35 faculty, 20 weekend performers and 210+ workshop participants. Next, Choro involves c. 60 participants and 6 faculty. Third, the Chamber Music program involves a week long workshop for 10 select participants, plus 3-4 concerts per year. The Program Assistant is deeply involved in the administrative tasks of planning and running the workshops. You’ll do a wide variety of tasks to help make the workshop/festival run smoothly, some of which will be big-picture and some disparate details. You will work closely with and receive regular direction from the Program Manager. As you become more familiar with the program you will become more independent and will play an increasingly central role in conceptualizing and planning the workshops.

The Jazz workshop takes place the last full week of July. Choro is in late April, and the Chamber workshop is in early June with additional concerts spread from September through May. Your schedule will vary throughout the calendar. Peak times are the week before and the week of the workshops. These times can require long hours, flexibility, and a good spirit. Days of especially high demand include the first, second, and last days of a workshop. The starting rate of pay is $18 an hour.
